At St. John's Church of England Primary School, Hindley Green, our sense of belonging in school, Church and the community enables all to flourish. We believe that each child is unique. Through our nurturing approach and high expectations in learning, academic progress can be made, developing the whole child to be their very best. Our core values (love, responsibility, resilience, hope, motivation, creativity and community) enable us to believe that “With God, all things are possible.” Mark 10 :27
We show care, kindness and compassion so every child feels safe, valued and supported.
Children learn to take ownership of their actions, choices and learning with integrity.
Being respectful means valuing others, listening carefully, and treating everyone with fairness.
Being kind means helping others, using gentle words, and making sure everyone feels included and cared for.

''I look forward to transitions and meeting the new teachers and teaching assistants that will help me at St Johns. Transition times give me the chance to get to know the new staff members so I feel comfortable to learn and thrive.''
''The learning at St. Johns is fun, we have lots of opportunities to explore through different topics and even have trips/workshops that go alongside our learning.''
''I like school because you can learn new things and make new friends. My favourite subject is maths and art.''
"My favourite thing about school is that when I am down, staff at school are always there to cheer me up with a joke or words of encouragement."
I honestly cannot recommend the Toddler Group enough. My children absolutely love it. There is always something different to do/ explore and they love the singing/ dancing at the end and helping to tidy up.
**Holi Hai! Reception Celebrations** Our Reception class had a fantastic time celebrating Holi, inspired by our CUSP book *Holi Hai*! The children learned all about this vibrant festival of colour, joy, and togethernessand then brought it to life in their own playful way. Working as a team, the children showed brilliant cooperation and communication skills as they tried to get as much powder paint as possible onto the teachers (who were very good sports! ). It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they collaborated, shared ideas, and cheered each other on. In our mud kitchen, they created their own coloured paints using flowers. They explored mixing, experimenting, and using natural materials to create beautiful coloursjust like in the story! A joyful, messy, and memorable celebration full of laughter, teamwork, and learning #HoliHai #fromearlyyearstoemployment #Teamwork #EYFS
As part of our Poetry slam and skills builder team work skills reception worked together to produce a poem, the shared ideas linked to their own group theme, well done reception.

A huge thank you to the team from Wigan's Mental Health and Well-being Team who delivered a session to Year 6 around managing anger. We discussed triggers and strategies that we can use when we start to feel big emotions so that we can prevent dysregulation! #FromEarlyYearsToEmployment #TeamHGSJ #mentalhealthmatters

In Year 5 this week, we have been working hard within our reading lessons. We have continued to investigate our class reader 'the explorer' and we had a huge debate on whether or not we should put tarantulas on a hospital menu due to their health benefits. Here are some of our responses
